The rudest customer service ever! I have never been treated so badly on the phone after asking a few simple questions. After sharing my experience at a party later that night, a lot of guests told me they had the same thing happen to them. In an area with many gourmet pizza choices, I will drive out of my way to go somewhere else (which I did). No pizza is worth bad customer service.

Read the reviews and gave them a try. Overall the food was good. The pizza and the meat sauce pasta was excellent. The antipasto salad was average and bread sticks dry(slightly over cooked). The woman on the phone was really nice and welcoming. Felt like she and family took great pride in the business. I will order again but was confused on the pricing. Had this order delivered and they mentioned the gratuity was already on the bill. I tip the driver extra 6 dollars just in case. Didn't get a bill so could not confirm. Overall..4 STARS

Sad to say the owner has an attitude. We parked on back on a very snowy day and we were told to park on Mack. Would have but no places. Meatballs just average. Won't be returning.

Best thin crust genuine Italian Pizza I've had in the states. Prosciutto and arugula pizza is the best. And it's CHEAP. Like cheaper than Jets cheap. And they deliver !

This place has the world's best Italian S cookies! The staff is so nice and knows my whole family

Have you ever watched Seinfeld? The soup nazi? I feel like Rose must be the pizza nazi. I mean that with a love both for the pizza and for Rose's stern ways. At first I was unsure about my repeated experiences BUT the food is very good so I keep coming back. I really enjoy the meatballs, Vincenzo's favoite & the teramisu. What does she put in the food? Is it love, gobs of fat? I'm not sure but it is good. I love that they deliver & will always pick up the slack when I don't have it in me to cook. They also have spaghetti and many other offerings if you are not into pizza weekly. We eat a lot of their spaghetti. Thanks Rose.

This is one of those places that makes you feel like they're doing you a favor by being in business and taking your money. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment because even though the customer service is borderline abusive (Okay, a bit dramatic.) we keep going back. It's the best take out Italian we've got going on the east side. The pizza crust is thin and crispy - creative toppings to choose from. Their lasagne is delectable - the perfect balance of gooey cheeses and pasta. And how do they achieve such depth of flavor in a light marinara sauce? It's supreme. Just don't go there looking for any warm fuzzies.

I am not from the area but was on this side of town. I love small family run businesses and Italian sounded fantastic. My husband and I walked in, placed our order and walked around outside while we waited because the heat was oppressive inside. We ordered two Sicilian Chicken Sandwiches and antipasto salads. I ordered one of each of the dressings and a large serving of tiramisu. It didn't take long for our food, we grabbed our dessert from the cooler and headed on our way. I (the impatient one) immediately dove into my sandwich. If I could rate the sauce alone 5 stars! So delicious. Garlic and tomato and spices! It was fantastic. My bun was a little over toasted and was HUGE. Too much bread for me. I felt like the chicken was a bit tough and when I eventually pulled off the bun (because it was seriously huge) the chicken alone had a rubbery texture and no seasoning. The bread/chicken/ sauce ratio was off. The antipasto salad was amazing (5 stars), both dressings were delicious and I'd go back for more! Now for the anxiously awaited dessert. My husband dishes me out a serving and I take a bite and was SO sad. It tasted like balsamic vinegar. Like straight up salad dressing. I even double checked the ingredients thinking maybe it was a weird recipe and nope. No balsamic listed. Either something went bad in the prep or something went bad in their cooler but $11 went into the trash! For the tiramisu dessert disaster disappointment for that alone I have to rate 3 stars. I would happy try this place again, just skip the salad dressing flavored tiramisu.

Had to write a review for this delicious place. My husband and I called a little late and didn't realize it was closing. The man on the phone was so sweet and made our order anyway. Only realized when we came to pick it up he was waiting on this last order to leave. We felt so bad and apologized. He smiled and said "no problem, anytime!" So nice to feel appreciated as customers and to make a little connection with the person making your food. The pizza was so good we will definitely be going again.

Love this place. Best pizza by far in the Grosse Pointe area. Great quality and taste, definitely none of that processed pre-frozen stuff you get at the chains. My family and I have been going here for years.

This place is on Mack Ave in Grosse Pointe Woods. It is a carry out only establishment. A co worker told me about this place for a lunch option. The pizza is outstanding. Hand tossed crust, brushed in olive oil and other seasonings. So good and very reasonably priced. They have a list a specialty pizzas, and other offerings. But please, instead of giving the cheap chain stores your business, give a well deserving mom and pa place your money! You will NOT regret it.

BETTER THAN SUPINOS! :0 There, that's right, I said it. Yes they are imho. I ventured to Dinotos after the storms today knocked out my power and needed to put dinner on the table. After reading the reviews and few friends rave about Dinotos I gave it a shot. Man o man o man. The pizza is crawl on my hands and knees good. Thin and crispy, the crust is chewy and flavorful, the sauce starts out sweet but has a very slight bite to it, and the cheese is fresh grated and wonderful. The minute I walked in the door Rose (the Owner) says "I've never seen you here before try a S cookie" ooh that was good, and while looking over the carryout menu(strictly carryout here) she hands me a slice. Well let me tell you the order changed that instant to not only lasagna (ooey gooey cheesy goodness) but also a additional pizza and breadsticks. In the words of Rick to Captain Louis ""Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."

Based on several reviews Dinoto's was on my radar/ bucket list. [ Natalie & Bob ] SO last night was the night, as the bride worked late & was wore out. Placed the order with Rose @ 7:50 , shot down I-94 to GPW and parked out front. Walked in & Rose greeted me with a warm hello!, you must be Ron ! Yes I am..come here, and try these S cookies that is my grandmas recipe, I said ty, she said 'try it now so I can see your smile", I replied my wife is a cookie fan I will bring it home for her, Rose said here is one more for your wife! HOW KIND! The pizza came out as promised at 8:10, Rose & the Chef were super sweet~ I put the pizza in the back seat , as the temptation was too great for the front seat. I called the bride & said 2 words 'Oh My' she laughed The 'S' cookie was one of a kind & good A The Pizza was very good B+ The cheese , toppings & sauce were also very good B+ Will I be back? SURE! Is it the best Pizza on earth? you tell me . . .

We are totally burned out on jets, howies, and ceasers, the pizza and sticks and beans were absolutely excellent!!! The large pizza was huge and toppings fresh and tasty. Thus is what pizza should taste like!!! The beans were a perfect side dish and the cheezy sticks with amoghio sauce was incredible!!! We will be trying everything on the menu. Not to mention the warming experience from the staff! Can't believe I just found out this place now... We have been eating bad pizza for years but not any more!

Rose and Pino (owners) are a truly wonderful couple. The food here is incredible. From the famous "S" cookies that can be found all over metro Detroit to the pizza that was voted "one of Detroit's best" by the Free Press last year, you really can't go wrong with anything here. Rose treats everyone who walks through the door like family. Every time I walk in with my daughter either Rose or Pino hands Laila a cookie (no wonder my daughter always asks to buy pizza from Rosie). I've had a chance to try many of the items. The cheesy sticks are quite possibly the best I've ever had. Well seasoned, lots of cheesy, and the dough is phenomenal. Gambino's Favorite is a special pie with prosciutto and is finished with fresh arugula after it is pulled from the oven. The peppery arugula adds a complex layer of flavor to the pizza. There is only a small bench to sit on while you wait, so no eating in. Strictly takeout, which is fine. Go in, grab some breadsticks, a house salad (the lemon dressing is amazing), Gambino's Favorite, and some "S" cookies and bring it home to your family, friends, or eat it all yourself. Yes, it's almost all carbs, but you ordered the house salad remember? It's all about balance.

This is the best Italian food my husband and I have found in the area! When we first lived in downtown Detroit, we headed to G.P.P. to hit up Mama Rosa's. When we arrived there was a 45 min. wait. So we googled italian in the area and found Dinoto's. We were pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. Great owners with a love for what they do! The food was insanely good and the portions are big enough for two. And when they say, would you like breadsticks, they actually mean a loaf of bread cut into 5-6 sticks. It's delicious! You pay for good food. This is more expensive than Olive Garden, but you're getting REAL Italian food cooked by real Italians! The S cookies are yummy and you MUST try a cannoli! They're heaven in a pastry shell. :)

The very best pizza in town! This place features authentic cuisine, Mr. and Mrs. DiNoto are first and second generation straight from Italy, and you can taste the difference in their recipes which feature premium, quality ingredients! I eat their pizza at least once a week, a former frequenter of different chains, this is now the only place where I get pizza because it is so much better than all of the rest. I wish I had known sooner about DiNotos. You will not be disappointed, after the first bite you'll be hooked like I was. And the owners and staff are friendly too, five out of five stars without question. Bravo!!

LOVE this place! Wish the menu was a little bigger and customer service was a bit better (reason for 4 stars) but I've always consistently had great food from here. The S cookies and bread are the best part of the meal. Meat sauce for the pasta is excellent.

Love this place. Have eaten at many fine Italian places. This place's pizza is the best. And the entrées are good too. Wonderful gem of a place. Pizza Florentine and Gambino's Favorite are must tries.

Ever since my Yelp! friend Jason H.'s review of DiNoto's I've been wanting to try this place. Bob N. raved about it recently and Annette J. mentioned it and that was the tipping point. But... Do not order from here. It's hard to find, you'd think a pizza place with such rave reviews would have a huge splashy sign that says "HERE I AM!! DiNoto's!!!" but no, that's not the case. They sell pizza here but it's not Detroit style pizza. It's thin. What's up with that? Don't get the S cookies. I got the S cookies and my girlfriend loved them. LOVED THEM. I thought they were just good, nice real vanilla flavor. My girlfriend pretends she doesn't read my reviews but I know she does. She let's out little Freudian slips, so I KNOW. So I know she'll know when I say that she eats too much sugar!!! Stop it! On to the pizza. Not much to say here. Don't try it. The salad: Different. Not your typical Antipasto. They have a homemade balsamic or fresh lemon something. Who wants homemade? That's why I order out. Ok, the service: It's carryout and the people here are mean. Tips: Don't order during dinner hours when someone else may be calling who really needs to get their order in. That is all.

Service goes a long way. After being barely greeted by a woman who was talking on the phone and told her caller to hold on, she proceeded to continue to call a teenage worker from the back yelling at him about what he was doing (or not doing). I was not a priority. When I told her to have a great day, all I got was a brusque "bye" as she then continued to yell at the employee. I was still intent on trying the pizza we had ordered as it smelled pretty good. My husband had gotten just pepperoni, but I tried one of their specials a pizza with basil that was supposed to be drizzled with olive oil. My husbands pizza was just ok. Very thin pizza that was a bit over done. Mine was horrible. One piece of basil per piece just centered in the middle. Hardly any mozzarella and instead smothered in parmesean cheese. Just gross. We will not be back.

The cheese bread was excellent, along with the dipping sauce. Definitely would give a 5 out of 5 stars for them.. The Italian Sub sandwich was just average.. The bread was a little overdone.. If it was softer, I probably would've tasted more of the sandwich.. Overall I enjoyed the sandwich though. As for the side of pasta salad, did not like this at all.. Had a strong flavor and smelled bad to the point that my coworkers asked me to take it out of the room.. I ended up eating a bite or 2 since they convinced me that it had to be rotten.. Probably was just the strong seasonings used (garlic, vinegar, etc.). Finally, the S cookies.. Pick up at least half a dozen and share (or not).. you will not be disappointed. Yum.

The service leaves something to be desired. Once, they forgot an item, and I had to drive back to pick it up. Then, after placing our order (always the same), they forgot 1 pizza (even though I paid for it) and was thrown under the proverbial bus by the person taking orders, saying that I had changed my mind when ordering. Less time needs to be spent on the computer, and more time paying attention to customers.

I will never get a pizza from another place again. Ever. Well, I still wanna try Supinos and I may want thick crust one day, but other than that, NEVER EVER! I completely understand why this was voted 'One of the Best' by the Freep last year. I found this place a couple weeks ago on Yelp! and told the BF we need to try it; so I called and placed an order for a pepperoni for him (he's boring like that, his idea of being fancy is adding bacon) and I got the Florentine. It was the first time I had tried a Florentine and OH MY GOD what have I been waiting around for?!!?! I tried the BF's pepperoni too and it was equally as good. Fresh ingredients, not super greasy, perfect NY style thin crust. We also got an antipasto salad with lemon vinaigrette and a couple meat balls. The lemon vinaigrette was so good I drank the rest that was in the bowl (on both occasions that I have ordered food from here, I know I'm gross like that. Whatever, it's good! You'd do it too!) and spent 25 minutes in Nino's the other day looking for a lemon vinaigrette to see if I can find something similar and another hour at work on Epicurious.com looking for a recipe. It's that good!! And the meat balls-- Wow. Awesome. Almost as good as my pork, veal, sirloin and cheese meat balls, but way better than Villa Restaurant's and everyone seems to rave about their balls. I had them the other day and wasn't blown away, but I digress. It's only Mom and Pop carry-out, but definitely worth the try. They close at 9pm though, so you should take that into consideration.

Was very impressed with the pizza, first time checking this place out. Simple, fresh ingredients (ordered Gambino and Florentine). Will definitely be ordering again. Had questions about the size of pizza and person on phone was friendly and helpful. When I picked up the pizzas, definitely friend service:)

When you think of a local take out "Mom and Pop" Italian place, you think of Dinoto's. Small store, single counter, friendly and consistent smiling faces and solid, consistent food made with love and customer service you'll never get at a chain restaurant. First of all, the pizza is amazing. The Gambino, with arugula and prosciutto is excellent. Thin crispy crust, salty prosciutto, slightly sweet tomato-based sauce...just tremendous and when paired with a robust Zin...a great combination. Their white pizza (Vincenzo's) is also good, but not as good as the Gambino...I like my white sauced a bit less "sauced' but the flavor is excellent and the roasted red pepper nicely cut the richness. And the Florentine (think Margharita) with fresh mozz, basil and olive oil is also great. And the small makes a great one-person lunch...light, flavorful and when the basil is fresh...can't be beat. Their chicken dishes (Sicillian, Parmigiana & Spidini) are all very good and for the price ($9-$10 per) you get a ginormous amount of food and yes, reheated the next day makes for a terrific lunch! All in all, you'd be hard pressed to find a better family-run Italian joint on the Eastside...the salads are solid, the the meatball sub is a home run and after ordering out from there at least 20 times in the last couple of years, I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal. The price/food quality ratio is excellent and I can't recommend DiNoto's enough. Try it...you will not be disappointed!

How did I not know about this place?? This is the best pizza! We just happened to stumble across them at lunch! We went in for pizza by the slice and walked out with that plus the 'S' cookies. All of the food was delicious and the owners are great! Definitely will be going back.

I read great reviews about this place and I was not disappointed! When I came in to pick up my order I was greeted by the friendliest people who were the owners. The place is super inviting and cheerfully decorated. It's not a dine in spot, just carryout, but it was very clean and nice inside. It was a pleasant experience from the minute I opened the door and smelled the Italian aromas. I ordered 2 of their specialty pizzas, the pino white vegetable, and the pizza florentine. Both were great. The florentine had a bit of sweetness to it and i enjoyed it. The white vegetable was loaded with grilled vegetables and had a really nice light flavor to it. I also ordered some bread sticks and a couple of meatballs. I had to try one of their famous "s" cookies at the counter. It was a piece of heaven! I bought a whole box! The pizza dough was fresh and authentic Italian deliciousness! The best pizza I have had in years. Better than any chain could ever dream of. I brought the pizza home and my family devoured everything! My 3 year old loved the it all and I completely blew my diet! My husband nearly ate the whole box of s cookies. I am looking forward to leftover pizza tomorrow. I will be back!!!

It is true that this place will resurrect forgotten memories of Italian Sunday family dinners (aunts, uncles, cousins included, of course), if you were lucky enough to ever experience them (anybody out there?). I've only tried a couple of the menu items at DiNoto's- the meatball sandwich is probably as close as you'll get to homemade - but it's the "S" cookie that keeps me coming back. The gentleman in the above review just skimmed this right over, barely mentioning this goldmine for cookie-lovers. These things are unreal. They are perfectly sweet, and a perplexing combination of cookie and cake texture that gives it just the right hardiness for a baked good. And it's heavy. That's a good thing. And it's frosted. Also, a good thing. (In this case, at least.) My measure for baked goods is, "Could this be the beer drinkers' equivalent to a Guiness?" Obviously meaning, could this, in a pinch, stand in as a hearty snack (or they would say a meal) to tide you over for a bit without the blood sugar headache rush. This just might be the Guiness of cookies. I know there are some who might disagree, but a good cookie should feel "healthy," like dark chocolate. I don't mean that it should it taste like twigs, but rather it should consist of pure, simple, whole ingredients, be considered a distant relative of a cracker (think loosely here - broad bread family), possibly be considered savory to some (think Italian sesame cookies), and serve as a better tide-me-over than a granola bar (what Snickers' was trying to accomplish, I believe). Or, another way to look at it; you could defensibly have it for breakfast. But now I'm getting too lost in the virtues of quality snack food. Either way, on all accounts, the "S" cookie wins. I've never tasted such a complex cookie - and only 4 or so ingredients. Even better! I might even dare say this is the ninth wonder of the world. Seriously. I'm warning you. You'll get hooked. My friends did.

Before I rip apart the food, let me preface by saying the owners were very nice and this is the only reason I could see for a second try- I don't think I'm that brave though. Got a coupon and realized they are right up the street and I've never ordered from them so... Ordered a Lg pizza- not the typical but thought the special- Alfredo sc, fresh mozzarella, roasted garlic and roasted red peppers sounded good. Also got (1) single meatball in red sc. to sample. Got it home and went for the meatball. Red sc. was AWESOME, but the meatball required me to actually get up and go to the kitchen FOR A KNIFE! I could not cut through the damn thing with just a fork!!. I have never met a pizza I didn't like. I like $5 Ceasars, I like deep dish Chicago, I like trendy, thin upscale pizza and those 99 cent boxed pizza even have a place in my heart. I'm a bachelor- it's against bachelor code to throw away pizza, I threw away my Dinoto's pizza! It was thin, bland cheese only on tough, thin, cardboard crust. Alfredo sc- Where? Roasted garlic- what?Roasted red peppers- Those 6-7 total sm diced unroasted peppers? fresh mozz- Huh? Am I being punked?? Went to the fridge and tried to find something to help it go down easier- no success, in the garbage it went!! WOMP, WAaaaamp.

Good pizza. Been buying slices ever since they opened. Noticed over time that one of the Owners, Rose, is lacking in customer service. Pino is always nice asking me to send in customers. Just stopped in to try a full size pizza. Rose didn't look up just barked out, here to pick up? I said no, would like to order. her response was it's going to be 40 minutes. Still no eye contact. I said that wasn;'t going to work for me. I turned to leave and she huffed me! When I turned in surprise and said what, she ignored me.Called back to complain a few minutes later and she said she doesn't think she did anything wrong. Of course not. Rude people typically don't. Down the street to Salvatore Scallopini where I shared my experience with many and enjoying my pizza.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
